I am the Special Projects Director for the CENTER for American Nurses.  Our mission is to collaborate and partner with individuals and groups to find ways to improve the work environment for nurses.

A survey the CENTER conducted about 2 years ago revealed that nurses face conflict situations often in their work and need to improve their skills in dealing with conflict--with physicians, with patients, their families, and with each other.  Part of my job has been to work with nurse researchers, writers and academicians to develop online courses that teach the skills of conflict competence.  This most recent course is being launched under the CENTER's non-profit educational arm, the Institute for Nursing Research and Education, of which www.navigatenursing.org is the website.

As an extension of the course, and recognizing that healthcare professionals who truly intend to alter the way they handle conflict need support, we want to create a community of learners who continue learning from each other.  We urge you to join in the discussion, share your experiences (no identifiers please) and share best practices.
