About This Course

Deconstructing American English is a resource text for students at all ages and levels who want to learn more about grammar, syntax and the elements of writing.  However, the book is primarily aimed at the first year writing students, be they American, English as a Second Language, or Developmental.

The text is not a traditional textbook.  It does not cover all aspects of language and writing.  What it is meant to do is augment such texts by clearing up confusions that are standard to today's beginning writers.

This "course" will not be built by the author of the text, but, instead, be built around the text by a learning community of experts and interested parties, including the author, who have been invited to take part in its development.

If you are reading this, then you are one of those invitees.  Welcome!

The first thing you might want to do is read the book in its present form, which can be found in "Lesson 1".
